Clay barring in the cold.

Ok. I've used my clay bar kit a lot, but never during the cold like I have now.It seems like it worksA LOTbetter than it does when its hot outside. Has anyone ever gottenbetter results when its 40-50 degrees outside?

I did the hood and rooftonight and I'm gonna do everthing else tomorrow. Its like the bar is harder and the detailer does better when its cold.

I still have to clay bar my truck but it's too cold here to do it. I missed out yesterday since it was in the upper 60's.

Well not just the metal being cool. If its really hot outside, the claybar will not be as hard as it will in cool weather, so it will not pick up as much.

What exactly does that clay bar do?

a claybar picks up debris that is embedded in the clear. wax just covers the debris but the clay will pull it out

HERE is some light reading...

The best thing for it is to keep it out of the sun and let the paint be as cold as possible. And if you use warm water when your clay like dip it a bucket of warm water is works alot better. I use to be a detailer at CarMax. They focus soo much on appearance its ridiculious. Try using WARM water next time, it'll come out smoother and a more shiny gloss to it.

i'm really going to have to try using the warm water technique. i've always had problems claying in the cold. i don't feel it picks up as much.

since the bar is so cold, it doesn't mold to the paint to well.

those are just my experiences though. :)

i really have to detail mine. it's black and with the winter weather/salt, it's looking mighty ugly. :(
