Rear Body Pillar question

So I`ve read on here a few times about that Black part on the truck next to the rear glass that discolors/fades and wondered this... What about using the Truck bed coating to give it that `thick Plastic Look` again? I`ve got the spray and I'm just curious, once we get a day above 65*, how this will work.

Has anyone else tried this? Since mine is a 1995, it`s discolored pretty badly.

It`s the only ugly thing left on the truck!

You should do the tire carrier and the pillars in bed liner[8D]

I had the same problem on my 2000 2 dr. Minelooked identical to yours. One solution I tried was sanding off the rough plastic to smooth it some. Then I masked it off and sprayed on a couple coats of a spray paint designed for plastics. It turned out ok and it looks tons better then before.

I sure will... I`m waiting for the days to get warmer and a little less breezy! Oh and it should be noted that I do actually have a proper matching spare tire too... They wouldn't remount the original tire as it was from 1995!

Wonder if your solutions would work on the removable tops of a K5?

It is a matter of plastic vs. fiberglass. The tops on the K5's were fiberglass with a top coat.
