Tire Protectant Question

What product can I use on my tires that will protect them from UV rays etc. but drys up so all the dirt doesn't stick to the sidewalls the first day?
I'm not too concerned with a glossy shine just a clean black look

cover all! works pretty good

I have yet to have any tire on numerous vehicles over the past 30+ years of driving ever have a problem of surviving UV rays. The tread wears down LONG before I would worry about UV rays.

AJBert your BFG's don't show signs of dry rot on the sidewall after 4-5 years?
I've had mine since 2007 with about 40k miles on them.
The tire tread still measures new, but the sidewalls are graying and getting hairline cracking.
Florida is the sunshine state lol.

No cracking what so ever after 4 years, including the spare which has yet to see the road but probably gets more sun than the others. Tread wear, though, is more noticable compared to the spare.

I will say this about the BFG's, though, I may run out of truck before I run out of tread!

LOL Yeah the only thing that lasts longer than BFG tread is Fred Flintstone's wheels.

heres something I always used and a Old guy 20 years ago told me this I use to ArmorAll my tires he said get you a spay bottle mix 2 cups of sugar to warm water shake it make sure tires clean and spay they will have that "new tire" look not over shine that some sprays use.. the only thing I cant keep my dogs and cats from licking my tires.. thats no joke but it does work....

kevlar974 08-15-2011 08:22 PM

Is it the sugar or the dog and cat saliva that keeps them looking new? Lmao.

RangerG 08-15-2011 09:25 PM

I have heard of Armor-all drying out tires. Never have used it though so I can't say for sure.

Canam 08-16-2011 08:42 AM

Armor all is Bad it dries out everything it touch's will never ever use it again.. and @ kevlar LMAO I dont know but hey they do look sharp so I will keep it up .. let the dog's cats, all the neighborhood animals take a lick.. lol
