1999 4x4 2 Door LS Blazer Towing

Hey guys, I was just wondering if the hidden hitch on my Blazer is factory. If it's not. How am I supposed to know how much I can tow with it. I got under the back end to see if there was any writing but there wasn't as far as I could see. I bought the Blazer used so I don't know much about what comes factory and what doesn't. There isn't a ball thing for me on their either so I will have to buy that metal peice that comes out of the square hitch connector and the sliver ball looking thing....Yes...I am that ignorant to the termanology.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Check for labels or other identifying marks on the hitch. If no joy, contact Hidden Hitch and ask them what they made for the Blazer. Chances are that they make only one hitch and can tell you its specs. Probably a Class III hitch. While you're under there, make sure all mounting bolts are tight.

The insert for the hitch and balls to mount on the insert are available at Wally World and just about any auto parts store. Depending on the height of the Blazer and the tongue of the device you're towing, make sure that the trailer is level when mounted on the hitch. There is more than one size ball, so make sure to get the right one for your trailer. It is NOT - repeat, NOT OK to use a smaller ball than the trailer is designed for.

And when towing, ALWAYS use safety chains and make sure your electrical connections are working.

One more hint: a correctly loaded trailer is always slightly tongue-heavy. Don't EVER load a trailer tail-heavy or will weave all over the road when towed. VERY dangerous!
