Nothing's really cheap, it all depends on how much you want to gain, too.

Air filter, or cold air intake, a good exhaust system, those are the basic start points...

I hope by "Vortec" you mean that's the engine itself, and NOT one of those useless fuel saver things...

If you search the site you'll find some good suggestions... I don't know off the top of my head, as I haven't been shopping for one just yet.

Unless your getting a TRUE cold air intake, then don't bother. A TRUE c.a.i. will have it's own sealed off from the heat of the engine compartment box to draw in actual cold air. Volant, and Injen's tuned box with c.a.i. are good ones to start looking at. You need air, spark, and exhaust to make h.p., so don't think that adding a c.a.i. is gonna make a noticeable increase in hp all by itself.

unless your planning on doing major engine mods.....its not worth the money. Use the saved cash to buy a vehicle meant for speed.

Blazinloud just posted and made the most sense of any I've read lately. Blazin' saying that will PO people, like the guy who wants to know how he can run 12-1 compression. The engine needs more than hundreds and hundreds of dollars to make ANY power.
