diesel cleaner?

Was doing some searching last night on good engine cleaners. Alot of people are saying drain 1qt of the motor oil, add 1qt of diesel fuel to a cold motor, let run for 1 min, then let it sit for 1 hour, the change the fluid. A few also said transmission fluid works good. This is for cleaning the internal parts. So far it seems alot of people are really pleased with the diesel fuel cleaner... anyone heard of this?

I've heard of the diesel trick on small engines, but it was introduced to fuel supply.

I put a pint of SeaFoam in with an oil change and then changed it again after 500 miles or so. Oil was filthy.

After almost 3,000 miles my oil still looks pretty clean. I'd go that route.

That's old school for old type engines. There are much better alternatives available for engines today. To clean the lubrication system I would go with Auto-Rx.

that seems like decent stuff, have you ever used it?

I would NOT drive my vehicle with an additive in it thatthins the oil. I use seafoam but I only let the motor idel for about 30 minutes. If your motor is really that dirty, do it at every oil change. Youre just asking for trouble driving the motor with thinned oil.
