Engine/tranny Rebuild

Ok, so i've been thinking about rebuilding the motor and tranny on my truck but was wondering what kind of ball park prices i'm looking at, and should i stick with GM parts or aftermarket?

what all are you planning on doing to this rebuild? Is it just a few parts or is it a complete entire rebuild from the ground up?? Rebuild can mean different things to different people. A rebuild to me would be putting new everything in the motor, cam, lifters, pistons, heads, etc.. some people would say a rebuild is just swaping out intakes. As for the price ranges, it all depends on where you go. Rockauto has decently cheap prices, summit is a good place. Those are 2 decent starting points to look at. From my noticing, summit is mostly aftermarket, RA is a mixture of both AM and GM products.

Sorry, i didn't specify. When i say rebuild i mean everything. Complete motor and tranny rebuild. And i am wanting to go more aftermarket actually so i might look into summit then. Do they have most of the parts, do you know?
