ignition upgrade
So here are my plans for my ignition setup.
MSD blaster coil MSD Cap MSD rotor MSD 8.5 super conductor wires New AC delco plugs not looking for any power gains. just hoping i will see a little improvement in gas mileage and how smooth the motor runs. Anybody running anything similar to this?? what would you recommend for the gap on the new plugs? |
RE: ignition upgrade
I have all of the above actually...
the gap should be .045 or .060...I would say make a pick. .045 is puts less stress on your coil...but on the bad side...gives a smaller spark....double check your owners manual and/or under the hood on the fan shroud. If urs is like mine...it tells you both!! lmao I havent noticed much when it comes to gas milage...but its definatly more responsive. I like it...defintaly runs smoother too. P.S. plugs come with a .060 gap already. |
RE: ignition upgrade
hey magnum does msd make a kit where you can just buy all of those things at once?? i dont really like the msd site im havin trouble findin what parts i need. if its not to much trouble could you get me some part numbers?
|
RE: ignition upgrade
Hey,
Well I didn't buy them all at once...and don't really have part numbers other than the wires...but theyre for a 96...not sure if theyre the same..but anyways...heres links to the things. MSD Spark Plug Wires MSD Coil Packs MSD Cap and Rotor Kit I don't really think the cap and rotor matters that much when it comes to what brand..I could be wrong...but yea...and the plugs...just go to Autozone or w/e...theyll hook ya up |
RE: ignition upgrade
would ignition upgrades like msd increase horsepower and torque? im just curious if they do or not.
|
RE: ignition upgrade
nah...unless you get like...the whole ignition computer or somthing. I just like MSD's low resistance wires. 40 ohms baby.
