Newer starter?

I tried the search and didn't come up with anything...

Can i use a gear reduction starter from a newer Vortec on my 4.3 without any modifications?

I had a 1994 3.4 DOHC Olds Cutlass convertible a long time ago and used a gear reduction starter from a 2001 Impala 3.4 with no problems.

So if anyone is wondering...

My 1991 4.3 now has a 2002 4.3 "mini" starter. Fit with no problems and much easier to install than the big old original.
