Starting problem
 

Hey guys, new here and have a problem with my 4.3 2000 blazer starting and staying running. It will crank, run for a minute or so then stall out. Im puzzled and need some advice. I checked fuel pressure on fuel rail and i got 20psi the highest. I really dont think it is the fuel pump cause it starts and seems fine when it is running. Plugs wires cap and rotor all havent been replaced in a year or so but i dont believe thats the issue as of now. Tried the spraying starting fluid into the throttle body and it runs perfect but still stalls out. Its like the motor is getting too much fuel and fluding out. To me "my opinion" i think its the fuel pressure regulator but i could be wrong. Any ideas or help would be great!!

He means to put "leakdown test" in the search box. There are probably a few hundred posts that speak of the test as the first place to start. Below is a link to one of them. Look at the post in the thread from Captain Hook.

With 20 psi being your highest, it's even kind of surprising that it starts at all. See the thread below. Don't worry about what it's titled or the specific problem from that guy. Look for the posts from Captain Hook in the thread.

Well i looked around but i cannot find anyone that has the exact same problem as mine.

Get a fuel pressure test guage put it on the test nozzle on the back of the engine.Turn the key on and see what kinda reading you get.You should in the area 58-60 for at least 10 minutes.If it drops low pretty quickly then your fuel regulator inside the intake is probaly leaking.There are hundreds of write ups on this topic on the site.

Already done the test myself and like i said before im only coming up with 20 psi (the most) and it doesnt leave that area. I know theres write ups all over but none of them explain exactly whats goin on with mine. Thats why i opened a new thread trying to get more answers. I have the intake manifold taken off and the spyder injectors off as well. Looking at the regulator there is not a puddle where it sat so i dont believe that its leaking. But it also has not been cranked since yesterday. Im just puzzled on how im only getting 20 when i should be getting more. I dont think its the fuel pump cause it is cranking and running for few seconds then stalling out....

Look at the link I put in my last post. Captain Hook goes into further detail to help narrow down the problem. Though I'm not sure now that you have everything taken apart...I think you still check the pump itself. With the pressure low like it was, I don't know if I would have pulled the intake apart before checking the other pressures. I would think that you wouldn't need to. Look at the link.
