RE: taking off the limiter

The limiter is put there because of the rating of the cheap tires GM put on the cars, and mainly because the Blazers, Tahoes, Trucks, and other things of that sort will easily roll at speeds in excess of 96 or 99 mph. I know that on a 1997 GMC Z71 pickup the limiter is at 99, but my blazer is at around 96. I would rather be alive and only going at a max speed of 96 rather than go 110, have a rollover because my tires couldn't take the speed and blew out, and be dead. But hypertech makes a programmer that allows you to raise the limiter to the specs of your tires. Also JET makes a SCU (speed control unit) that connects to the transmission and tricks the computer into thinking you're only going 90. But I have bought a JET SCU for the Z71 and after three months of having it, it broke, making the transmission not shift until I took it off. I called the company and the rep. said he had a 1999 chevy truck with an SCU and the problem was that I had a fuse blown out or something like that and that there was nothing wrong with the SCU. So I laughed at him b/c there was no blown fuse. Called later and got a different guy. He told me the exact same story but he had a 1998 chevy, so maybe they're trained to say that lie or something, I don't know. I say, if you're driving a Blazer that's a daily driver (that is probably never going to a track except to watch other cars race), then don't worry about going faster than 96. Blazers are supposed to be slow, otherwise they would have put a V8 in them.
