Testing individual fuel components on a 95 cfi blazer

I recently replaced the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, it improved mileage and ran better , but when it got cold it started having trouble starting and staying running. I rented a fuel pressure gauge, it is ~40 psi and drops to 10 really fast (I know its supposed to be over 55 and not drop off fast), so it seems my nut kit actually was leaking (didn't look like it) or the cpi itself. I plan on removing the plenum and running the fuel pump to look for leaks.

Before i start, I was trying to figure out a way to test the pressure on the (aftermarket) pump I installed, without the leak. I tried isolating the pump by hooking the gauge up at the filter, and clamping the fuel line going to the engine (small part between filter and firewall is not metal), but I got the same readings. I'm pretty sure I am not clamping the line off enough, as i can barely get to it.

Anyone got an easier way of doing this? maybe i can cork the hole in the plenum? Any other suggestion are welcome.

The only way I have found to do this so far is with this
J-42964-1 3/8 Fuel Shut-off Adapter

its $130:icon_doh:
if I could find an adapter that went from the schrader valve on the gauge to a 3/8 for the fuel filter connector (without a pass-thru) it would work too.

Just pull the filter and adapt down there. I posted the necessary information in another thread somewhere around here. The fuel test port is a JIC fitting. I can't recall what the specific type is for the inlet to the filter. It can be done for less than $20.
