Take your truck to Autozone and get them to scan for any trouble codes.

The computer will go into a default setting and burn a ton of gas, but it runs great. It should trip the Check Engine Light, however if the bulb is burnt out, you won't see it.

I have a sneaky feeling your in a different country and autozone is not an option. but will wiat to see what you have to say.

I drive about 40 mph and I do not drive uphill a lot; however, a day after i got the truck I noticed that the check engine light was on adn it went of afterwards. I thought it had something to do with me running it in 4WD. I get gas from anyplace. BP, Amoco, etc...

However, I digress, but when is it good to use 4WD high or low?

Thank you for your time...

Use 4hi and 4low when you're off paved roads.

4wd hi when traversing in sand, snow, or when slippery conditions apply.
Use 4low when playing in the muck, driving slowly. (don't wind out the motor!)

Let off the throttle a bit before you engage into 4wd.
Always engage into 4wd BEFORE you get stuck.

It should work on the fly. The only time I shift it into neutral is to get it out of 4lo.

I have no explanation to what yours did.

well yeah, it won't engage until the certain parts mesh. The vehicle has to be moving, even a little. But you already know that.

The cable that connects to the front axle from the t case do rust inside. Some folks replace it with an OEM, some install a posilok. If it rusted, your too late.
