Trouble removing starter on '95

I must be a f**kin retard or something. I have replaced starters on just about every car I have owned but can not for the life of me get out the starter on my '95 blazer. I've got all of the wires disconnected and of course unbolted it, but I cannot seem to get it to fit down through the space to freedom. Does anyone remember if they had to take off some surrounding parts or is there a trick to get it out w/o me tearing apart the under carriage.

yea, the blazers suck as far as removing starters go. basically, you are gng to have to lay underneath the blazer and try to get terminal end pointed down. it will take some twisting and turning , but it will come out. just make sure that you look at how it comes out, as that is the only way to get it back in.

So it can be done w/o taking any other parts off. I tried twisting and turning for about an hour today and finally just gave up. I'll keep trying though, thanks.

You may have to drop the torque converter cover to get it out. That cover wont come out, but once all the bolts are removed you can push it out of hte way.
