Swap it out for a 3.4 first, then think about cams

swap a 4.3 in it

Stage 1 is a lower roll, more and faster lope.. stage 2 is mid roll, mid lope.. stage 3 is highest roll, slowest lope, most cam to crank power. I don't think 4 cyls and 6 cyls sound good with cams IMO..

Most of the newer 4.3`s have roller cams so you dont need to go too big. Also make sure you cam and lifters are computer compatible.I agree take the 2.8 out and swap it for 4.3 and hope the wiring harness is close enough to use that you dont have the problem I have with mine.

It depends what you want out of it IE: lower end torque or mid-upper HP, mileage. Also the mile & condition on the engine, trans etc. Call the camshaft companies & ask their tech line what's they have available for your year & make. It's all free to call & see what they think.
