That sounds like a legitimate code then. Strange that intake manifold gasket repair would cause a P0335 unless it was something with the wiring harness - but if no crank sensor reading back to the PCM, then there will be no spark or fuel injector pulses. Before doing any sensor replacement I would check the voltages at the crank sensor connector and make sure the output wire from the crank sensor back to the PCM has continuity and no shorts.

Disconnect crank sensor connector, turn key to run, and check voltage on the lt green wire to ground with a test light (step 3 of factory procedure). Should light. Now put test light across purple and green wires (step 4 of factory procedure). Should light. Since I assume you don't have the fancy test equipment they call for, that's all you can do except disconnect the PCM and test continuity of the yellow wire in the crank sensor connector to the PCM connector with the DVM. Also check this wire for shorts to ground with the DVM. If all of this is OK - then I would go ahead and replace the crank sensor. But know that a new cranks sensor requires a crank sensor relearn to be performed, and that requires an advanced scanner to trigger it. You may have to go to a dealer to do this or the SES light may remain on after a crank sensor replacement (so don't jump to replacing the sensor first thing). Of course don't forget to inspect the crank sensor connector for damage to any of the terminals.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Are you sure that the distributor cap is secured properly to the distributor? If it is loose, or if the distributor hold down bolt is loose it will throw this code. It is really easy to strip out the threads to hold down the distributor cap.

Also, are you sure you didn't miss plugging in the harness to the distributor? That would result in no spark, and no RPM readings.

Glad to hear you got things figured out. Thanks for getting back to us with what you found (distributor not in on the correct tooth).
