3 button or 4-button control? Make observatons and put a effort into describing fully if you would like us to help. |
When you put it in 4lo then try to go back to 2wd it will not. The only way it will go back to 2wd is to turn the Blazer off & leave it in neutral then press the button for 2wd. It's a 3 button system with a 4th button for auto 4wd.

So I am hearing that the 4WD is functional, but you are having trouble getting back out of 4LO unless engine is off with key on, and trans is in neutral.
I would try per instructions below. If will absolutely not work this way, then probably you have a weak Encoder motor or something binding in the transfer case. But I'm thinking you may be just fine and just need to practice getting it back ot of 4LO (which you really shouldn't need very often!). Good luck and best wishes. From the owners manual for auto 4WD 2001 Blazer: Shifting Out of 4LO To shift from 4LO to 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 2HI, your vehicle must be stopped or moving less than 3 mph (4.8 km/h) with the transmission in NEUTRAL (N), or with the clutch pedal pressed for vehicles with manual transmission, and the engine running. The preferred method for shifting out of 4LO is to have your vehicle moving 1 or 2 mph (1.6 to 3.2 km/h). Press and release the 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 2HI switch. You must wait for the 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 2HI indicator light to stop flashing and remain illuminated before shifting your transmission into gear. If the 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 2HI switch is pressed when your vehicle is in gear and/or moving, the 4HI, AUTO 4WD or 2HI indicator light will flash for 30 seconds but will not complete the shift unless your vehicle is moving less than 3mph (4.8 km/h) with the transmission in NEUTRAL (N) or with the clutch pedal pressed for vehicles with manual transmission. |
