1993 Blazer very rough idle

Hi,

I have a 1993 Blazer with 143,000 miles on it. 5 weeks ago I was driving to work and every time I had to stop the truck was idling very rough and almost stalled. It did that for 2 days and I then drove my truck to my mechanic. When I pulled into his shop the rough idling stopped. He said maybe there was some carbon that had gotten caught in the EGR valve and cleared out. He checked the computer and got an exhaust code failure. The truck ran fine for the next 4 weeks and then started idling very rough again. I took it to my mechanic and he got the same exhaust failure code. He replace the EGR Valve but that hasn't fixed it. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Up until this problem the truck ran very smooth!! Thank you,

Vinnie

mine was doing it recently, i have the exact same truck, and the knock sensor wire ended up getting ripped off the sensor. its kind of easy to see its right on the driver side of the block right by the steering shaft. its very close to the shaft and somehow it grabbed my wire and ripped it off

Thank you for your reply. Just got the truck back. My mechanic cleaned my EGR valve and that fixed the problem. At first he put the new EGR valve in and it didn't fix the problem. He told me he cleaned my old EGR valve and the system and that fixed my problem

too bad I did not see this before, i was going to say, Clean the EGR, and put a new gasket on it, the gasket with the screen, If your mechanic is good, they put that gasket in.

Mine was the egr solenoid..it let vacuum pass through to the egr just enough to hold it open a bit
