Question 1995 blazer lt 4wd 4.3 misfire

Hey y’all thanks in advance if anyone has any insight on what’s going on with my blazer. So this thing has been running for roughly six months since I got it, the guys I bought it from were pretty nice and they let me know beforehand that it needed a new spider injector set up. Anyway, I figured they were right but I haven’t gotten to that replacement yet because it’s a little expensive and I figured MAYBE I could get away with fixing something cheaper.

So this thing runs but doesn’t have the power it should, on takeoff it feels like it’s trying to catch up with itself I’ve replaced some vacuum lines, seemed like it kind of helped but hardly. A few months ago I replaced the starter because it would spin the starter but it somehow was off track and eventually I noticed that the starter was cracked, idk if that’s relevant to the misfire problem. It does make the noise like it’s just free spinning the starter wheel every once in a blue moon but I can live with it. At one point last year it basically just wasn’t shifting out of 2nd or 3rd gear so I tightened a few nuts and added transmission fluid and it’s been better since except for the power issue.

It usually starts up fast on the first try if it’s cold out, otherwise it’s usually on the second crank and I do kind of try to baby it since the fiasco with the cracked starter. Might be unrelated but I am pretty sure the cat is clogged or something because you can definitely hear the rattle like marbles coming from the exhaust and that started right around when I ran a couple of cans of sea foam through it. I can kind of hear a different rattle from the driver side in the dash or under the hood most likely it’s a little deeper but who know what it is. If I am stopped at a light for a little bit it will usually misfire as in the check engine light will start blinking but will stop after I’ve taken off again.

One last thing, in the spot where my oil filter is, right where you would have a skid plate I guess everything down there is just about covered in black oily looking sludge and actually looks like fresh oil leaking from somewhere in a few spots.

So anyway thanks in advance if anyone has any advice on any of these issues I’m having I’d sure appreciate it.

SES light will blink inline with a misfire. i cant quite speak to everything else but being a 1995 i believe it would have TBI injection no?

1995 should already be CPI with the spider injection. AFAIK 1994 was the last year that saw any TBI injection.

The trouble with 25 year old trucks is that several unrelated issues can create a mess of a problem.

One needs to be methodic about the approach. May even want to spend some money in the factory service and electrical and diagnostic manual. (21$ on CD-ROM from rockauto)

Get the codes first.
Then figure if the truck has been tampered with.
Electrical wiring and connectors, are they original and in the place they should be?
Any rat's nest somewhere?
Blown fuses?

From there I'd go to the obvious and confirmed problems. (misfire)
Fuel pressure and workings of the fuel pump.
Ignition wiring and timing.

95 was a transition year. The early months were obd1 and later were obd2. I had an obd2. If the ses flashes it is an obd1. That is the type that you jumper the diagnostic connector under the dash and it blinks out the codes. But the 95's were fuel injected. But not the same as the 96 or higher. cfi as oppposed to the 96 sfi. The difference is you can replace each individual injectors in the spider on the cfi. In the sfi they are integral. and the intakes are different. most of the rest was similar.
