1995 S10 Tranny - what's this hold for?
More than a drop per second of trans fluid comes out this hole (pix attched), so I can't drive far. When I stop, it continues to leak for maybe a minute. This hole is in the casting or bell housing (?) at the rear of the engine, just in front of the exhaust crossover. I'm not about to repair the transmission--short of replace the pan gasket, which seems to be intact--but what's this leak mean? Am I in big trouble, as in Big Bucks? The Blazer is definitely not a collectable vehicle, plus pushing 190,000 miles. This is 2nd transmission.

Your transmission pump seal or torque converter seal are leaking, trans. needs to be removed for these seals to be repaired. The hole is likely there to allow condensation build up to escape, otherwise the cover would fill with water.

if you are SURE its the trans fluid then its the front seal leaking. You have to remove the transmission to change it. pull the trans, slide off the convertor and grab a pair of pliers and pry out the seal, knock in the new one, replace.
It sucks.

Thanks, Jase and Chris
This is probably not the way to get back to you guys, but I just want to pass on a quick "Thanks" for your responses. Too bad you didn't have better news. I'm not physically up for the repair work so ol' Little Red will have to be put out to pasture...seems like the transmission shops/owners I know are such notorius liars, I'd rather just quit trying to keep the car on the road.
Best of luck to All.
