Default 1999 Blazer auto trany problems

Hi peoples I have a 1999 Blazer auto

which was showing fault codes for the 3-2 cut down and the TCC solenoids, with every thing that's going on its taken a while to get them here to Australia. now they came ages apart, and when I put them in I crossed them over as in wrong one in wrong place, yea I know plugs are different not enough to not go in, any way worked it out swaped them over,
BUT wouldn't change down properly as in the 1-2 ball bearing was jammed in the separation plate, so to stop this from happening we put a 6.7mm ball in instead of the 6.33 mm one in so it wouldn't Jam again.

can some one tell me if the ball bearing is meant to go up through the hole in the plate, or is it meant to close off the hole in the plate above it.

there was quite a bit of sandy clutch plate material floating around in the gearbox oil would this have stopped it from going through if it was meant to,
these may be silly questions But with a 4 month delay for spare parts, any mucking around drags out a problem a bit.

I have since found out the holden commodore has a simular gearbox as its a GM car but don't know if it crosses over as chevy has transfer box etc

so what happens with the ball bearing please

it currently will go up into second gear but changes down to 1st when it gets to around 4500 revs it will drop down to first but it will stick in the drop down power position and just go rapidly between 1st and 2nd until it decides to relax and go back to 2nd and then 3rd

so its a pain in the **** at the moment

please
John
