2000 4.6 2wd manual trans issue

So i was on my way to work, turned around a corner and went to down shift to second. All of a sudden i lost the ability to put it in any gear, it moves through neutral like normal, but its like the shift gates dont even exist.

If the engine is running you cant get it in gear, it wont even grind or throw the shifter back. Its like a brick wall.
If the engine isnt running it goes into gear like normal.

Not sure if the issue is with the trans or clutch and or clutch components.
It doesnt seem the clutch is bad though because i had to put it into second gear, start the truck and drive home in second.

Engaging and disengaging of power through the trans is fine, NO slippage.
It leaves stop lights fine, it can even burn out still lol.
It seems as though the clutch wont let the trans shift or its as if every gear is being blocked. but it will engage and disengage power through like i mentioned just fine WTF!?!?!

Anyone have any ideas before i tear this thing to pieces?

It sounds to be like a clutch issue. Id pull the trans and see what it looks like.
I have seen this happen when the throwout bearing goes bad and comes apart or when a couple teeth brake off the pressure plate. Both circumstances allow to clutch to release slightly but not enough to function like normal.

Time for a new clutch.

See thats what i was thinking. Since the clutch would transfer power through the trans but wouldnt allow any gear selection.

Makes me feel a little better a clutch kit and full master/slave kit will run about $250-300 with a luk setup.
Thanks alot for the insight guys! Much appreciated!
