2000 Blazer Throttle issue

Hello everyone - New to this forum. Been working on vehicles for over 30years but my daughters blazer has me stumped. So here goes the issue - While on the freeway, the RPM's start dropping and the vehicle starts to slow down. No throttle, its like the throttle body isnt connected to the throttle cable. Sometimes it will start working before she comes to a stop and she can get back up to cruising speed. Sometimes she has to pull over and sit on the side of the road and keep pumping the throttle until it starts to rev. The engine is still idling when she is stopped. Then she gets back on the freeway.. My question is - Is this the throttle body? Fuel pressure regulator(That looks like a pain to change). Has anyone else had this issue before.. Totally stumped on this one for sure.

Thanks

It's a mechanical connection to the throttle blade. I could see it sticking, but not "stretching." maybe visually inspect the linkage, while someone manipulates the gas pedal?

Any check engine lights? Also, might want to check fuel pressure while you're under the hood, even if only to rule it out

Put a ODB reader to port, look at throttle position readings, see if it is going up and down with pedal, just key on, not running. Could be the TPS sensor giving bad data. You state when she pulls over stays running ok and just keep working throttle till it responds again. Weird thing in my mind is the throttle plate is mechanical, how in earth can it open up like that and not stall out if fuel rate not increased. Check the usual suspect- fuel pump pressures. Assume no cruise or when happens she kicks cruise off. When hooked up do you get any codes from the ODB port?

Thanks guys, the issue is that it only happens about once a week. Its hard to find it when I have the vehicle. I was thinking of pulling the TB off and take a look at it.. but like I said it will eventually just fix itself and she is off again. I will see what the ODB reads. The cruise control is disconnected at the moment from the TB.

Sounds like a fuel pump or fuel filter issue to me. I think that eventually it will get worse and stay broken until it is fixed! There is a testing sticky at the top of the "Second Gen" forum on how to check maximum fuel pressure (not regulated fuel pressure). I think that doing this would shed some light on the potential that this is an impending fuel pump failure.
