2001 4l60e Blazer HELP!
Hi there! I have a 2001 Chevy blazer 4x4, Trans code 1TAD. The person I bought it from had gotten the trans rebuilt after the parking pawl broke inside. Unfortunately, it was a bad rebuild, and it has never had 1st and 4th since the rebuild. 2-3 slips, and reverse is fine. I have tested everything in the system and confirmed that the solenoids work, the PCM grounds them out properly, and that all fuses, ignition switches, and all electrical wires and connectors are good as well as proper voltage. With the pan off I confirmed both shift solenoids were working. Nothing in the pan, some slight clutch material but nothing too out of the ordinary. There was one 1/4 x 3/4 piece of what looked like the separator plate gasket inside the pan. So I have a few questions...
1. If not the solenoids (since that's all 1st and 4th have in common), what else internally could be the issue, I find it weird that I have second and third gears as both missing gears are in those clutch packs.
2. I've already made the decision to rebuild this trans due to the slippage, but would a general rebuild have a good chance at fixing said problems?
3. As far as rebuilding goes, I have the one in it which is believed to be a 1TAD (the engraving on the trans is gone under the extension housing mount). The bell housing is a completely different color than the trans, which makes me think the previous owners "rebuild" was actually a junkyard trans slapped in. This I was originally just going to try to rebuild. I also have a 3KHD trans out of an LS that the 3-4 is burnt up but it had all gears. So do you think I should rebuild mine or the known good one? Also, since the 3KHD came from an LS, I will have to swap the input shaft from mine into it, but do I have to switch pumps or are both the same?
4. For rebuilding, what is the best all-in-one rebuild kit that you recommend? I am just using this to mess around in on the weekend, so I don't need any upgrades, just close to stock. Bought the vehicle for a steal, so the cheapest option, but will do a good job kit is what I'm looking for!
Thanks!

Dire mistake...no such thing as just a trans rebuild!
Trans AND TORQUE CONVERTER BOTH. ( and at least flush the radiator cooler or a new radiator)
IIRC the fluid path in an AT passes thru the converter where it can pick up debris and do trans damage. ATs fluid circuits must be SPOTLESSLY clean, even a tiny bit of debris can cause a valve to leak.
I guess removing an old converter could shake debris loose. Too much work/ money to take a chance.
