2001 Chevy Blazer Misfiring in cylinder 4
 

just got done replacing the lower intake manifold gasket because I had the typical Coolant leak. I Repaired and fixed the leak.


but after I got everything back together and once i started the blazer up. I noticed that it was running rough. My check engine light came on and was blinking.


the codes that i got were P0200 and also P0304.


I started to pull the plug wires of the distributor as I pulled plug wires 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 There was a definite change and a misfire. When I pulled plug wire 4 there was no change in the idle on the engine. I was getting spark jumping from the distributor to the plug wire. after plugging it back in the distributor I pulled the plug from the spark plug. holding it close enough I was getting a spark.


So if someone could help with the issue and point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

Was the spark a weak orange color or a nice crisp BLUE spark??? When was your last tune up? Last time you did a fuel injector service?

I don't remember the color of the spark. Today I will probably be replacing the cap and rotor. The other thing I'm going to try is reinstall the distributor. Pull it out and out #1 to TDC with putting it in this last time I just put the distributor in the spot that I pulled it out

If P1345 was not present, the distributor is installed correctly. Unplug & check the terminals in the injector connector. If an injector pin gets bent while plugging it in, the injector will not fire.


EDIT: P0200 is "injector circuit open".

My question I have is if I installed the distributor one tooth off would that just make one cylinder misfire or make all of them misfire. And then I would get the P1345 error code.


So tonight going to replace my cap and rotor plus I will check at the central SFI to see if I have bent pen plus Going to clean the connector with the spray electrical cleaner.


If that doesn't work would you say the problem lies within the injectors and replace them.

P1345 means the distributor is off at least one tooth. If it's off, depending how far, it would cause misfire on all cylinders, (P0300). If you only have a misfire on one cylinder, the problem is something specific to that cylinder, ie injector, valve train, spark plug, plug wire, etc.

I just want to say thank you with your help. the issue with #4 when I pulled the connector off the fuel injectors. it was a bent pin so very gingerly I bent it back straight put the connector on carefully and it fired right up. So Just once again want to say thank you and that you save me a lot of money. to show my appreciation I was wondering if there was a spot here where I can donate some money

If I had a p1345 code, does that mean the distributor was installed incorrectly?

If you removed and reinstalled the dizzy - then got the code, yes it is possible you are a tooth or more off.
