2002 Blazer 460le tranny issues

Hi yall, im new to the forum. I just bought a 2002 blazer 4wd auto trans. I bought it for 500 bucks everythings immaculate on this truck but it has tranny issues. Im mechanically inclined but dont know too much about trannys. so heres whats goin on. sometimes i can start the truck and put it in drive and it will hesitate but go. but others it just seems to slip in any gear including reverse. no grinding or odd noises. i plan to take the tranny pan off and drain it and replace the filter as i heard this could possibly be my issue?? As im not too keen on transmissions can someone give me some tips on if im going the right direction? secondly how hard is it to replace the clutch?? thankyou!:icon_doh:

The first thing I would do if I were you is check the color of the transmission fluid. If it's dark or smells burnt then you definitely need to change fluid and filter. Changing fluid and filter could alleviate your problem if the current fluid is really bad.

If the fluid is in good shape then that may not be the problem and you'll have to do more troubleshooting.

shallow pan is 5qrts...check the owners manual if you have it.
my tranny was going wacky at the shift points and would act up at higher speeds.
i changed fluid and filter and all was good.
still even if you need a tranny....junkyards would be a great option.
at 500 for a blazer you really cant go wrong.

good find.....good luck.
