2003 4wd 4dr, new fuel pump?

Hey,

I have a 2003 Blazer, 4wd, 4 door, and I'm pretty sure I need a new fuel pump. Car wouldn't start yesterday after running fine in the morning. If I spray starting fluid down the carb it will fire up but not keep running, so spark is fine.

When I first turn the key to "run" the fuel pump relay will click on but the fuel pump doesn't run (the relay clicks off after 2 seconds, just like it's supposed to).

There's an exposed test terminal just toward the front of the car from the fuel pump relay (still in the fuse/relay block), and when the relay clicks on I get 12 volts at that terminal, until the relay clicks off then it's back to 0 volts.

So I'm pretty sure that there is power going down the wire toward the fuel pump, and at the very least I probably have to drop the tank to see if it's just a wire problem (which I could test at the pump connector at the top of the tank). Assuming that the 4 blade connector is seeing 12 volts when it's supposed to, which I assume it will, then it's new pump time.

Does this all sound right to people that do this more than me? Mostly I'm wondering - is there any way to check the 4 blade electrical connector at the pump WITHOUT dropping the tank? Or is that just impossible to get to.

Thanks,
Chris
