would it be hard to do a 350 in my blazer instead of rebuilding my 4.3 or buying new one. if i could do a 350 for cheaper and easy, what would i need for a tranny?

The site says you can use your stock trans but they dont recommend it. I would contact them and see what trans they want you to use. I've found Tahoe motors like new on ebay going for 1500 - 1800 with wireharrness and computers.

 

well i do not have that much money, the most i have is likt 700 bucks, i can get my hands on a 4.3 for 350 but i dont nkow what shape its in, should i just pay to rebuild mine?

 

Honestly I dont know how much it would be to rebuild your motor. Are you doing the work urself or taking it to a shop?

 

doing it all myself, me and my brother are doing it, along with my friend devin who knows everything about 4.3's, parts alone were like 475, not including all fluids needed, just main parts.

 

Well rebuild your motor then. At least if something goes wrong you'll know what the problem is and you can do some minor up grades too like a edlebrok intake manifold..

 

Won't be able to use an aftermarket intake manfold and keep the SCFI injection system... Does Edlebrock even make a MFI intake for our trucks? I thought they were only TBI and carb'd intakes.

I say rebuild it yourself. You may be surprised at what you find. You can have the crank ground under sized and use over sized bearings (check clearances on each journal though). A general rebuild kit, not including crank, pistons, & rods, should run you around $150 (unless the price has shot up in the last few years). If your cylinder walls are scored or worn pretty hard, you may need to do an overbore which would require new pistons. If the cylinder walls look good, use a ridge reamer to smooth out the top of the bores and hone the cylinder walls, re-ring the pistons and send'em home again. Grind the crank to smooth out any problems if there are any and slap some new bearings in and you are good to go.

 

I FOUND A 4.3!!! 250 bucks, 100,000 miles, going tonight to hear it run. in a rearended s10. hopefully i can get it!
