4.3 Vortec won't do burnouts...
 

I have a 94 first gen s10 blazer with the 4.3 Vortec 162,000 miles. Its automatic, shifts smooth, runs great, doesnt leak fluids, goes fast on the freeway, it just wont do burnouts even when its wet. Its seems like it is just torqueless.

Anyone have any ideas? Tranny failing? I just have the weakest 4.3 around?:icon_shrug:

These aren't' really made for doing burnouts, but I was young once too so I understand :icon_bike:

When was the last time the blazer had a tuneup? How's the air filter? With 162,000 miles on it, you're pretty much reached the end of the catalytic converter's useful life. Look into getting a free flowing cat and maybe a better muffler. I'm not promising miracles, just throwing some ideas out there. I'm wondering about your MAF, but I don't have any experience with them. Cleaning them is supposed to help, maybe someone with some knowledge can chime in.

you must also remember the weight distribution in the jimmy/blazers, there is actually weight on the rear tires.

Maybe your rear brakes are actually doing their job? my 01 when it still ran right didn't like doing burn outs either, holding the brake anyway. I could kick it out on wet ground but could not for the lift of me do a burn out sitting still...(untill I anchored myself to my friends jimmy who held his brakes to prevent me from moving)... Best option would be installing a line lock....

I've come to the realization I'm not 19 anymore and am no longer driving my chevelle haha. Like s14 said, they aren't really designed the best for burn outs...

Haha, im not too young anymore,29. Im not saying I want to do burnouts everywhere I go, thats what my nova is for.:icon_wink: It just seems like the motor lacks some umph. I recently (3 days ago) replaced the O2 sensor and the Cat. It's a CPI motor so I think I might check the injector system, not saying it wiill add tire roasting power maybe just a little kick.

The weight point does make some sense. I had a 91 s10 truck with 1.9 4cyl and that was a tire burning machine.
