4L60 clutch pack opinions. what to buy?
 

1994 Chevrolet Blazer (full-size). L05 engine. 4L60 tranny (manual kickdown, not electronic). I am rebuilding the tranny and need opinions on clutch packs and shift kits. I want more hp and torque to the rear wheels, quicker response, and solid firm shifting but still able to use 4x4, so no race/track kits so i don't snap the chain. Please post your opinions. Thanks.

Clutch packs range anywhere from about $50 for a factory set to almost $200 for performance ones used for racing or maybe serious towing/abuse. Those prices are based on purchasing online. If you got them at a retail store you could probably double that. Assuming they have them.
Shift kits, I know TransGo offers towing kits. I'd at least go with the boost valves in the pump that raise line pressures, the Beast sunshell, Corvette servo, and one or two other things I can't think of off the top of my head. A towing shift kit would probably include all those except for the sunshell. Don't forget the cooler!!

Check this site out for shift kits. They offer quite a few for the '93-'94 trans. I've bought one from him so far and it's great. Assuming I can keep traction (not installed in the Blazer).

They also have more for the 700R4 which I assume would be more what you will need since it's not electric. Those are some tricky years to deal with so you may need to find out exactly what you are working with.

Good advice by TFZBird! By now, most all of the weaknesses of the 700R4/4L60 have been cured through aftermarket parts. They can be built to handle some serious power.

A performance rebuild will decrease the time to shift and increase firmness.

As far as rebuilding the transmission to put more power/torque to the ground... You won't make it use any more power, but it will be able to handle more power from the engine.

thank yall both for yalls input. the blazer will prolly remain parked for the next couple months while i raise the money to even attempt to fix it. meantime i will be bumming rides to work
