Default 4l60e rebuild prices???

What is a good price to have a 4l60e transmission taken out and rebuilt and put back in with little bit better than stock parts. It will be comeing out of a 96 blazer 4x4.

$1500 for quality components would be a good price to pay. Typically it will be between $1800 & $2400 depending on the local labor rates. Make sure they are replacing the sunshell with 'the beast' sunshell and replace the steels as well. Some shops take a shortcut by reusing the steels that are in there which can cause premature failure.

I was thinking anywhere around that area in price. i have heard problems about the sunshells and was going to have a better one put in when rebuilt. Is there a certain rebuild kit that i could shop online for that is reccomended.

The prices listed are good estimates. If you are looking for a kit, are you planning on doing the work yourself? There are not many performance rebuild kits per-say. ProBuilt Automatics offers kits that are anywhere from $300-$1000 for parts alone depending on application.

Transmission cooler is the main upgrade that would benefit the most.

I wont be rebuilding the Transmission myself. I have found a friend of the family that retired from a transmission shop and his specialty is rebuilding 700r4 and 4l60e transmissions to put in hot rods. I will get a quote from him and see what he says bout the price.
