4l60e rebuild stock or shift kit????

Hi every one, new to the forum as i just aquired my first blazer. Its a 96 2 door 4x4 auto. I got it for free from a friend. It sat for about 3 years with the asumption that the fuel pump was out. New fuel pump got it on the road but the transmission slipped horibly until i drove it a few times and topped off the trans fluid and put some lucas stop slip in it. Its a lot better but still slips and i dont trust it. i have had issues with this transmission and the 700r4's as well after long periods of non use. i have always just replaced the tranys in previous vehicles but being that i no longer live in a junk yard i think i would like to rebuild this one. from what ive read its the piston lip seals that go bad after sitting around.
so to get to the point should i do a stock rebuild or should i go ahead and put a shift kit in it? i will be hauling a small boat and motorcycle trailer with 2 offroad bikes a lot. and i will also be offroading with it (desert trails rocky, not muddy). also do the shift kits normally come with piston lip seals?
any responses will be much appreciated thanks, zach

also is there any thing else i should look for on this blazer after sitting for so long before i take it out and get stranded in the middle of the desert?

Rebuild, forget the shift kit and put in a corvette servo

corvette servo

? im un familiar with this mod. Servo from witch vette trany and why that over a shift kit?

the servo upgrade is easier and does basically the same thing as a shift kit. Heres a post about it https://blazerforum.com/forum/engine...upgrade-89999/

Yours is a PWM-only 4L60e.

Read this and decide on any valve body modifications that include TCC-PWM operation. Make sure you use the correct converter for your application as there are three types of friction materials.
