Holding Flywheel when installing balancer bolt?
Trying to torque my harmonic balancer down to crankshaft. How do you stop the engine from turning? I read of using a screwdriver on flywheel. Are there any pics. out there on this method? Not sure how to do this.

if your dust shield/inspection cover is already off the trans you can pretty much stick anything in there to stop it from rotating. if not, im not sure if they have that little rubber plug you can remove then you can just stick a big screwdriver in there on the teeth to stop it. but basically you just need to stick something in there to keep the engine from turning. just make sure you remember to pull it back out

maybe also try putting it in gear and hold the breaks.

^ ummmm.................did you fail to notice it's an automatic?
not running, and auto is dead in the water.
no matter how hard you stand on the brakes.

On the bottom of the bell housing, there are 2 rather large rubber plugs. Pull one of them and stick a large screw driver or pry bar (pry bar is better) up into the teeth of the flex plate. You likely will need someone to help you as holding the pry bar in place and working a torque wrench may not be the easiest thing to do at the same time.
