hey i hate to say it but when your right you are right can i get away with just mapp gas alone because that is about the only thing i have access to that would be in my buget like one of the portable torches from lowes i think just the bottles are about $10 not the little cig lighter torch

Just get a regular propane torch head and use that on your map gas.It will take about 10 minutes or so to get them red hot.

So Im kinda lost are you sayin that the bolts in the manifold are broke and not the ones that connect the ypipe to the cat?Cause yeah the manifold bolts are threaded but Ypipe bolts are pressed in at least on my 96 they were.I replaced them with threaded.

Any updates on your transmission rebuild? I am about to embark on this journey. We have no reverse backing out of the garage so there it sat for over a year now. This was suppose to be an uncle-nephew project but has turned out to be a true “do it yourself” rebuild. Read many web posts and viewed many YouTube videos on this 4l60e. Looks like I have a sun shell problem. I can rig a spring compressor with what tools I have. My only worry is those Teflon seals and how to install/resize them without that special tool. How did you handle them seals?
