4x4 Switch (2000 Chevy Blazer LT 4dr 4.3L)

My 4x4 is not working so I'm starting to troubleshoot the issues. Starting with the easiest check, I bought a replacement switch to see if that will fix the problem. My current switch the lights on it do not illuminate, but I've noticed that there are 2 different switches for the blazer. I have the one with the 4WD Auto button, but I wanted to know what the difference is between the two and if I have the correct switch for my model blazer. Can anyone please assist? thanks

Each one goes to a different front differential. You cant use one with the other. There will be someone who will post the specifics, but I know if you have the four button, you cant use the three button.

Thanks DonL, exactly how do you know if this is the correct switch for the blazer? are they interchangeable?

If you have the 4 button, then you need the four button. You cannot adapt the three button, and vise versa. Your rpo codes will tell you what you have.

You will be looking for RPO code NP1 or NP8 I believe. Once you find that in your glove box. You can look into the details of the item you need to purchase. It will tell you which one it is for.

Appreciate it, My service parts identification list says NP8.

If nothing else one would think the spades for the plugin on the back would be different from one to the other so only the right one would fit

Looking up some more photos, it appears that the connections on the back are the same for these two switches. Can anyone verify this?

That's where I'm not sure... by looking at it, it does look the same... I dont think itll work if you get the three button tho... could be wrong...
