i just bought an 83 k5 blazer with the trans completely gone no gears forward or reverse work, what year 700r4's can be used to interchange in? i also have a friend with a 700r4 out of a 89 k1500 truck he would sell me for $75, siad it shifts fine through all gears just doesnt go into overdrive would it be worth getting and could it be something simple to get it to go into OD?

 

The 89 would be considered an upgrade from a reliability stand point. They did add somethings in, but there is tons of information out on the web about the 700R4 so do some searching.
