85 Blazer clutch frustration

In the last 3 weeks, I've put about $600 in my beast's clutch. I had a complete clutch kit installed and a slave cylinder 3 weeks ago. Last week, the clutch gave out, and I had the master cylinder replaced as well. Didn't even get a week out of her this time! Mechanic says that the seals are getting blown out because of the cold, and he's going to replace the slave again and wrap both with insulated tape.

Is there something else going on, or does subzero always wreak havoc on these things?

I have never heard of clutch problems due to the cold. My grandfather's old 2wd '89 S10 w/ 5 spd worked great no matter what the temperature was and had its original equipment beyond 200k miles.

Sounds to me like there are part quality issues that are causing things to fail this quickly.

Perhaps he will get his money back for the original slave cylinder then. Thankfully, I'm not paying him for this visit to the shop. I almost wish I would have just let that noisy throwout bearing go a while longer :/

i got a 85 manual also. this truck was owned by my old work. the part up by the pedal, i guess that would be the clutch master. blew out once in the 9 years ive been around this truck. and it was just a slow leak. the one down on the bell housing is still the same one.
