I'm considering purchasing a 94 S-10 SS for around $700. The problem is that it won't shift out of 2nd gear. As it is an OBD 1 vehicle, would I be able to diagnose whether it's the shift solenoids or not? Does something that old have a computer for the transmission? Don't want to mess with it if it's going to have to go to a transmission shop. I don't got that kind of dough.

 

What happens when it should shift to 3rd? Does it try it shift and feel like it goes to neutral or not even try to shift?

 

I'll let you know when I try it out myself. I'm just going off what the seller told me. It's just that I'm not too sure about working on it without the aid of ODB 2.

 

A very limited amount of codes may be displayed on he 94 by using the "paper clip" method.

It would require a TECH I do to a full diagnostic or similar equipment apt for the 94.
