95 blazer 4.3L with random miss
I recently gave my 95 blazer (w/4.3L cpi engine code w)to my sister who needed a car. About a month ago she said it wasn't running good and the tach would jump around. At first I thought it mite be the egr because I had problems with it before. So I cleaned it and put a gasket on it that has a screen. That didn't help so she brought it over. The first thing I did was a complete tune-up.Then I changed the spider injector and nut kit.It then ran great for about 20 miles. Then the tach jumped once but it was still running good. I then decided to drive a little more and it started cutting out (missing). I had no power and the tach was jumping around. As I tried to make it home it stalled at a stop sign. It wouldn't restart soI check for spark at the coil and had nothing. After we towed it home it would start but has a bad miss. I pulled the codes and theywere P0300 & P1351. Ive since changed the ignition module, coil and pick-up coil. I also checked for broken wires and voltage to these parts along with the crank sensor. When I check the crank sensorfor resistance it was just below what mybook recommended. At this point I'm thinking it's the crank sensor. The crank sensor in thisblazer is no longer avalible and I'll have to retro fitit with the new style ifI change it.If youhave any info or ideas please let me know.
My 1994 has some "delicate" vacuum lines near the distributor. There is a connex to the intake manifold there and a "y" with a bigger tube thru the firewall to the HVAC controls inside and a small hard tube that goes over to the evap purge valve. It is really easy to dislodge that small tube doing a tuneup. Not sure if the 1995 has the same arrangement but a look at vac lines couldn't hurt. Also, perhaps a fuel pressure test is in order. Quick to do and very informative.
