95 Blazer with OBD1 but has OBD2 connector

I am looking for a scan tool that will hook up to a 1995 Blazer that the emmision sticker says OBD1 compliant but i9t has an OBD2 connector. I had purchased a scan tool from schucks auto supply but it would not connect. I called the tech support line and they said that there tool would not hook up to the vehicle. Anybody have a sugestion?

uh an OBD2 scanner should work.. mine's a 95 and has the hookup for OBD2 and I can pop a scan tool on it. did they say the OBD2 scan tool wouldnt fit or the OBD1 wouldnt?

Like CNYCountryKidd said OBD2 scanner should work OBD1 port is rectangular and OBD2 has angeled sides. I too have a 95 and I use a tech2 on it all the time.

Sounds like your '95 has the OBD '1.5' diagnostic system. That was a transitional year for GM and you probably need a scanner compatible with that system. It basically uses OBD I parameters with an OBD II connector. It can be a pain, but not uncommon in that year model.

I have an AutoXray CodeScout 2500 that works with the 1.5 system. You do have to buy an additional cable as it's not one of the standards included, but you get OBD I, OBD 1.5, OBD II compatibility and the GM, Ford and Dodge cables along with the generic OBD II.
