yeah just go back to carb, points, and distributor. why do they need to make things soo complicated. i think that its a good idea to change out the cap. those caps are really weird on the 96s.

I would start with replacing the cap and rotor again just to make sure you did not just get some bad parts.
About the carb/points/etc. I would not go so far as to call points good. IMO, HEI blew points away for reliability and ease of use. But I digress, that is neither here nor there in this discussion. LMAO!!

ok so i replace cap and rotor rechecked timing, started up and same thing, but ran long enough to throw a code p1345-crankshaft position,camshaft positon correlation. just dont know what now. please help.

I kinda hate to bring this up but... are you SURE that you lined up the cam correctly when you changed the timing chain?

If the cam was improperly timed to the crank, I would not think that the compression would work out to be as good... But then again...
