96 trans in a 98

Hey all before i go buy this up, is a 96 jimmy 4x4 4l60e the same as a 98 blazer 4x4 4l60e?

No, they are not the same. The TCC controls changed both in implementation inside the transmission and how it is controlled outside the transmission by the PCM. I have never seen clear proof that it wouldn't work, but it would suck to find out after you put it in that it didn't. I always try to steer people with the '98+ 4L60E to get a 98+ 4L60E to replace it and anything '96-'97 to stick to '96-'97, etc.
