97 Blazer oil cooler leak at radiator
I am new to forum and have a problem hope you can help me with. I had a rebuilt 4.3 installed in my 97 Blazer. The mechanic also put in new radiator. I have had several leaks from bottom oil cooler line in radiator. We have changed the radiator fittings twice, new Doorman cooler line hose and it has started to leak again. Thinking about removing the oil cooler and putting oil filter directly on engine. There is less then 2000 miles on engine change. Could use your help and ideas. Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
Did you replace/install the O rings in the oil cooler fittings on the radiator? Without them, it will leak ;) |
Yes, the radiator fittings were new
|
I understand the fittings were new, but do they have the O rings inside?
|
I assume the mechanic checked them. The top one never leaks, it is just the bottom one.
|
That might be the problem;) Can't assume anything.
You'll need to remove the fittings to see if the O rings are in them... kinda tough to see unless you know what you're looking for. New radiators usually come with the fittings, and some of the fittings come with the O rings, but not all. No O ring, it will leak, guaranteed. Here is a kit that has all of the seals: Dorman - Help Oil Cooler Line Gasket Assortment 66201: Advance Auto Parts |
