Default 97 tranny ??

My old 97 s10 blazer came with a 5 spd. the guy who had it before me blew the tranny and put a 700r4 in it. it goes threw a tranny in about 6 mths now. I am wondering if anyone knows it I can put a auto tranny in it without blowing it, and without spending a ton of $$.

Do you have an tranny cooler?
On the factory installs the tranny cooler is in the radiator. If your tranny isn't hooked up to a tranny cooler it will over heat and fry in now time at all.

If it is hooked up to a tranny cooler, is it plugged up?

Trannies should last a lot longer then 6 months. The 700R4 is a good tranny if it is rebuilt properly. Earlier version were suspectable to failures, however any competent tranny shop can modify it so it doesn't fail.

yes it has a cooler(in the radiator), yes it is running freely(forgot to tighten hoses and tranny fluid ran everywhere), my michanic said that it is going threw trannys because of the wiring to the tranny, but you cant replace the wiring.
