ses transmission codes
I just joined this forum, with a question about transmission codes from the OBD. Searched throught the archives, and didn't find anything like this, although I apologize if it's come up before, and I just missed it.
My vehicle is a 2000 Blazer LT with 135,000 miles. I have owned the vehicle since it was new, and never had any problems with the transmission before. Just recently had the fuel pump and gauge sender replaced. But now the service engine light came on, so I took it to the Chevy
dealer so they could look at it. Unfortunately, they told me that the transmission specialist wasn't there, and that the codes indicated a transmission problem. They wouldn't tell me the codes, just that I'd have to bring it back another day when the tranny guy was there.
I got the vehicle back, and thought I'd do a little investigating before having their specialist tear into it. First thing I'll do is take it down to Grease Monkey and do a AT fluid and filter change. It's been at least 50,000 since the last change.
Anything else I should do or check before taking it back to Chevy? If the fluid/filter change helps, will the light go out on its out, or does it need to be reset electronically?
thanks in advance
JH

RE: ses transmission codes
take it to autoszone and get them to read the codes for free.
Post up and we might be able to help you out.
Fluid change is always a good idea, however if your doing it to fix a problem.....
The problem is still there, changing the fluid wont make it go away in most cases, at leasast not for long.

RE: ses transmission codes
I agree with Hanr3, get the codes read. If you change the trans fluid and the code is still there ,( I think it has to be erased by a scanner), if you have to take the pan off to get to a solenoid then you had to do the job twice.
Not a well written response, but I hope you know what I mean.

RE: ses transmission codes
Chevy Lover brings up a good point too. Since you got the pan off to change the filter and fluid, change the solenoid too. The pan is off already, no since taking the red shower twice.[:@][:'(]

RE: ses transmission codes
Keep us posted when you find out what the code is. I have code P1870 coming from my tranny and not sure how to procede yet.
