98 jimmy starts in second sometimes

i have a 98 jimmy 2wd 4.3 sometimes it starts in second and sometimes it is fine also my speedo jumps around crazily when i drive it ive done some research and ive heard that a bad vss can cause this but anyway i pulled the codes with a cheap ass actron scanner and these are the codes that are coming up p0740 torque conv solenoid circuit open, p0753 shift solenoid a electrical, p0785 shift timing solenoid malfunction, and p1860 manufactured controlled transmission not to sure what all these mean together and ive never even heard of a torque converter solenoid so any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

All of these codes/symptoms can be caused by a failing ignition switch.

Diagnostic listings:
P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit
P0753 - Shift Solenoid A Electrical
P0785 - Shift Timing Solenoid
P1860 - TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit

Look for commonalities in the wiring schematics in the code diagnostic listings.

but would a faulty ignition switch cause the transmission to start in second gear?

also i tested all of the fuses with a test light and the cluster fuse had a very weak signal

Have you read through the links I posted above and tried any of the diagnostic steps? Or looked for common points as suggested?

A 2nd gear start is typically caused by a forward sprag which is installed backwards, however, unless you have had the transmission rebuilt (and not mentioned it), there is no way for the forward sprag to flip in an assembled transmission so that really is out. Electrical issues can cause a 2nd gear start as well (shift solenoid A perhaps).

There is a process for every diagnosis. If you aren't going to try what's suggested...
