98 S10 Blazer 4.3 V6

Had a new problem show up yesterday. No codes stored or pending. Had a hard time starting it and when it did start it lacks power on acceleration. coughs and pops a little. If I accelerate slowly it does ok and I can cruise at 60 to 65 with no problem. If I hit the gas it just doesn't accelerate like it did a couple of days ago. I cleaned out the EGR and just replaced the Catalytic converter today. Still same problem. If it has been running and is wormed up it will start again with no problem buyt if it was setting for at least 30 minutes or so then it will crank what seems like forever before it will start again. Desperately seeking help and trying not to take it to the dealer. Will if I have to but I prefer not to. HELP, this is my only transportation. Oh yeah, it's sucking gas down like beer through a beer bong.

exactly what i just went through. had to replace the fuel pump, spider injector assembly and i think its called a pcv valve and tube. My fuel lines were in dangerous condition so replaced them too. I had horrible mileage and after just 15mins of sitting it wouldnt start. It would start losing fuel pressure right away.

When you know when it won't start right up,did you ever try holding the gas pedal to the floor to see if it would start easier?

Fuel pressure - Test it! The system should prime to >55psi and it should remain above 50psi for 10 minutes after the pump has shut off.

While you are doing things under the hood, it wouldn't hurt to clean the MAF sensor.

Check out the tech article section for DIY posts on both these tasks.
