99 Blazer driving me nuts
#11
I guess I did the compression test wrong the first time or something, because I used my dad's Snap-On compression gauge this morning and now I have 155-155-150 on the passenger side and on the driver's side I have 150-150-150. Double and triple checked. So compression is not a problem and I think it's safe to assume that my cylinder heads and valve trains are good too. I was reading a few other posts and after some underside looking, I found a bunch of silicone all on the timing cover right by the CKP sensor. If buddy before me did the timing cover then it's rational to think he disturbed the sensor too. I know the CKP relearn is a necessary procedure, but could that be the contributing factor in the crappy running? Now it's hesitating when I press the throttle down after a stop, but if I floor it, she goes alright. I went out and got a new coolant temp sensor because it was cheap and a few folks had that as a remedy to their problems, hopefully it works. I don't want to keep throwing sensors at it if they ultimately don't fix anything...
