ANOTHER HEATER CORE QUESTION!

I NOTICED TODAY THAT MY 98BLAZER I BOUGHT IN FEBRUARY HAS HAD AT LEAST ONE CORE REPLACED ALREADY, DUE TO THE HOSE CLAMPS I SAW. I TALKED TO ONE GUY WHO SAID HE HAD A TAHOE THAT ATE 7 CORES IN THREE MONTHS! HE WAS TOLD BY A DEALER THAT SOMEHOW ELECTRICAL CURRENT WAS PASSING THRU THE CORE, CAUSING MASSIVE CORROSION. ARE THERE OTHER THINGS TO LOOK FOR TO PREVENT MY NEW CORE FROM GOING BAD? THANKS. RON

RE: ANOTHER HEATER CORE QUESTION!

You can measure for voltage in your coolant with a standard volmeter...just stick one lead on the negative side of the battery and submerge the other lead in the radiator if you read more than .1 Volts DC then you haveexcessive voltage in the cooling system...if that's the case run a ground wire to the heater core pipe and it should prevent any damage. This is a common problem in fords, but I have never seen it once in a G.M. vehicle. Just because you have new hose clamps doesn't mean that the heater core was replaced by-the-way. It's quite possible someone was trying to flush it out and replaced the clamps.
