Best Thermostat for 350
 
I have to get my timing corrected but I was haveing a bit of over-heating and think i might need a new thermostat so what temp is the best one for a Chevy 350?

Given the fact you live in a hot climate I would say you want to run something cool as you can like no higher than 180*.I lived in Okla for a while summers I ran 165*

No problem Glad i can help.BTW living in Michigan winter time I will run 195* tstat just so that i have good heat and summer I will change it back to 180*

Gonna assume its for the carbed 87 you have listed since you didn't mention. On a carbed engine you can drop down to a 160 if you feel the need. On fuel injection 180 is as low as you can go and still keep the ECM happy. I know your area and I'd suggest a 180 and no lower. You get too low and it can actually hinder combustion. Carbs its not as bad but fuel injection engines are designed to run hotter and use the heat so too cold t-stat does hurt.
